Celebrating Pride 2024

Happy Pride! It’s that time again for you to pull out your rainbow clothes and practice your dance moves. Hopefully you have been working out and are ready to show off!

Seriously, though, this year just seems different in so many ways. LGBT rights are under attack across the nation. We are in an endless election cycle — gearing up for a rematch between Joe Biden and Donald Trump. Republicans have taken away abortion, what are they gunning for next?

Then on a personal note, I have had a few health challenges and am relying more and more on my husband for help. From taking care of me, getting meds, fixing me meals and driving me around too. I am glad that I have a health plan that cares about us as individuals and as a couple too.

Being 60 and coupled, pride doesn’t hold the same attention for me as it used to. I love seeing all the crazy outfits and hot guys — but then my legs and feet get tired. And I wonder if I would be happier at home? It’s sad that you still see the protestors out there, year after year. Don’t they have better things to do?

I skipped the West Hollywood Pride celebration this past weekend, but we plan to go to the LA Pride parade this coming weekend. And we will probably leave early too!

I live my life out and proud every day of my life! I come and go with my husband from our apartment. And I am not afraid to be different and wear clothes that not everyone typically does — like Speedos and kilts. I wear concert T-shirts of female singers and boy bands. I am happiest when I just let myself be!

However you choose to celebrate, have a great Pride month!
