In no particular order, the 10 shows I am looking forward to in 2012:
Lady Antebellum They have arrived at headliner status. Following their breakthrough with “Need You Now” and their wins at the Grammy and other award shows, this country-pop trio is heading out on the road to promote their latest CD “Own the Night.” Support acts include Darius Rucker and Thompson Square. Dates are already on sale.
The first American Idol winner’s career is still holding strong. Or should I say “Stronger”? After 5 albums, Kelly has a good body of work to pull from as she heads out on the road to promote her latest CD “Stronger.” I’ve seen her twice before and she is a great live performer, I can’t wait for this new tour. Dates are already on sale.
Tim McGraw/Kenny Chesney
Two country hunks on one big stadium tour, count me in. Both big ticket draws on their own, together this is one to not miss. The “Brothers of the Sun” tour promises to be one of the biggest tours of the year. With support from Grace Potter and the Nocturnals as well as Jake Owen. And maybe a Faith Hill appearance too. Dates are set and on sale soon.
No official word yet on Ms. GaGa’s latest extravaganza. But considering she toured with the “Monster Ball” for over 2 years, expect this to be a big one when it is announced. How many crazy outfits can she fit in one show? Will there be blood? And how many shout-outs to all of her little monsters?
I saw this lady for the first time last year, and it was very hot show. She is promoting her new album “Talk That Talk, and her recent #1 hit “We Found Love.” She is fast becoming one of my top girls. She toured behind the last 2 albums, so I am expecting a tour behind this one too.
After headlining the half time show for the Super Bowl this February, the Material Girl plans a return to the concert stage in support of her latest studio album to be released in the spring of 2012. Not one to rest on her laurels, it is sure to feature re-interpreted Madonna classics as well as new songs too. She had a contest to find new dancers for the show. Pricing should be similar to recent tours, so save your money!
Yeah, the show has gone through some growing pains. But the music is as strong as ever. This past year’s “Glee 3D in Concert” showed what a fantastic live show the kids put on. Do yourself a favor and rent the DVD! It will probably be the last show for some of the cast members as their characters should have graduated on the show by the time the tour rolls around.
Mary J. Blige
The queen of hip-hop soul is back with a new album “My Life II”. I have been wanting to see her for years, so hopefully I will finally get to go. She has the chops, has the back story, she is the real deal. And a major influence on many of today’s artists.
I saw Chris Daughtry and co. 2 years ago on their last tour. It was a very good, rock n roll show. He is an intense performer, and the band is sounding better all the time. Looking forward to hearing the new music from “Break the Spell” as well as songs from the first 2 albums.
I was late to come to the Glambert Nation. But he is starting to win me over. The American Idol runner-up has a new CD coming out in the spring of 2012. Here’s hoping he pushes the boundaries even further as he preps the new album and tour. He describes the sound of his new CD “Trespassing” as “Nine Inch Nails meets Saturday Night Fever.” Should be a fun concert.
